Frequently Asked Questions
Short, direct answers on pricing an in-house membership plan — fee bands, utilization, break-even, and what the evidence does and does not say.
How much should a dental membership plan cost?
Most adult dental plans price at $36–$60/mo, child plans at $25–$40/mo and perio plans at $55–$85/mo. Your exact fee should cover delivered cost at expected utilization plus admin and fixed costs, while leaving members clear savings versus retail.
What is a banked-credit med spa membership?
The member pays monthly (commonly $99–$500) and the payment banks as credit toward any service, usually with a 10–20% member discount on top. Banked balances reduce churn because leaving means abandoning credit.
What utilization should I assume?
Start at 70%. Most practices see 60–80% of included preventive visits actually used. Stress-test your fee at 90% utilization — if it still covers cost, the plan is robust.
How many members do I need to break even?
Break-even = monthly fixed program cost ÷ (monthly fee − monthly delivered cost per member − admin per member). The designer computes it live from your inputs.
Do membership plans replace insurance?
No. An in-house membership plan is not insurance and must not be marketed as insurance. It is a direct agreement between your practice and the member for defined services and discounts. Check your state's rules — a few states regulate discount plans.
Is the case-acceptance uplift real?
Vendor case studies report member treatment acceptance around 86% vs around 45% for non-members. Those are vendor-published figures, not independent research, so MembershipDesigner labels any uplift estimate as illustrative and never includes it in the suggested fee.
Is my data stored anywhere?
No. All tools run locally in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, stored on a server, or shared.
What does Pro cost?
Pro is a teaser only: a $49 one-time plan-book export, with a +$19/mo multi-plan option noted. It is not on sale and no payment is collected on this site.
